No referendum required for Osaka IR decision

A referendum implementation ordinance bill to ask whether Osaka IR is pros or cons was rejected by the city council. This was submitted as a demand by the Liberal Democratic Party city assembly that objected to the investment of 79 billion yen in public funds for soil contamination countermeasures in Yumeshima related to the Osaka IR. In the cities of Yokohama and Wakayama, referendum proposals for IR bids were similarly rejected by the assembly, but in both cities it was due to signature campaigns and requests from civic groups.

*In the IGS seminar, we explained in detail about Yumeshima's infrastructure problems and public funding related to the Osaka IR.
